Big Red in the B1G: Internet Polls and the Drive to Be Prom Queen

I try and follow as many B1G blogs, websites, RSS Feeds, SBN sites, etc. etc. Anyhow, one of the funniest parts of each one of these, at least to me, is how many sites have been doing fan powered voting for BEST EVER tournaments this month. While OTE decided to do an internal voting mechanism earlier in March when we broke down Best B1G College Town, almost every other site went the, "Let's let the public decide" route thusly turning it into a gigantic popularity contest and rendering the entire exercise somewhat silly. fact, usually when this happens, all that we can expect is that one of the four major schools will mobilize their rabid fanbase to make sure that they win, right? Anyhow, the major reason this even pinged my radar was when I read the WWL's B1G blog and their, 'Big Ten Champions Tournament' in which they ranked the Top 8 Championship teams of the past 15 years and had fans vote for who they believed to be the best (linky here).
